My choice is Posterous. I was lucky that when I switched to Posterous, the theming/styling functionality was already implemented.

When ever I compare sites made with Tumblr and Posterous I see the former to have tons of beautiful themes but I always see that the latter will soon be catching up, I believe. It's just a matter of time.

One thing that I'm hoping for with Posterous is the availability to include JavaScript. But I've heard that it'll be implemented soon. A matter of time again. :)

I enjoyed reading your post. Such a good comparison. Will forward this to friends that'll ask me about the two services.

@deuts in response to your post about switching to tumblr:
1. we have customization coming, and it's rad!
2. You can't really say both system can post by email. In a single email you can send us 15 images, an mp3, and a video file. We'll handle everything. there are no limits
3. You can classify posts in the tumblr bookmarklet? Why do you need to classify anything? That whole idea seems unnecessary to us. Just post "stuff" we can't care what it is
4. We set a 1gb space limit to stop abuse. If you need more, we give it to you. With Tumblr you can only upload 1 image per post. You can only upload 1 mp3 per day. Gee, I wonder which is more limiting...
5. We autopost to twitter, facebook, flickr, and most blogs out there. And more are coming soon

Oh, we also do group site very well. Private sites. And we're in all the major twitter clients out there. And more....

I'm hoping we can get you to switch to posterous once we have customization out. :)

Hello, I'm a user of both platforms and I must add something to this well stuffed review.

I Find both platforms vers intuitive and having a clean humble design

I Love tumblr for the customisation options and the embeddable function > you can get your posts in any website with a nice html code well tagged in css which enables you to have your posts on any website (not just blogs)

Although I already was posting tumblr using e-mail, Lately using Posterous has been so mind freeing, nothing to do than press SEND, you don't have to think (too much) how your content will look like.

Last point > You can use Posterous to post on your tumblr !!! (and anywhere else too) so why not use best of both !? (not very sure how the automatic embed files function get transported through every post posted elsewhere though)

By the way, I know for a fact Garry is working hard on launching theming for Posterous. When that happens, methinks Posterous is the clear winner in this fight =D

Feel free to connect to me on Posterous!

Yup. Check out their FAQ for a more complete list of files you can attach. http://posterous.com/faq/

I think this makes Posterous the clear winner, haha. I <3 Posterous.
