I would try the Tweetdeck client for twitter. It will allow you to have multiple columns of tweets. You can setup a column as a search to match any text and return tweets with that text. I don't know of a way to get it into your actual Twitter timeline.

Helpful post! I was wondering– is there a way to track hash tags so related tweets appear in my twitter updates?

I’m glad you found some value in it. Twitter is really an interesting study in the way a barebones toolset can evolve. Hashtags are one of a few “features” that have been implemented by users inside the Twitter platform.
